Call me a Party Pooper!

So today is the big day, Obama's inauguration in Wash DC. Over the weekend he spoke, bands played, famous people made cameo's yada yada yada. I have been an Obama fan for years. I told people to watch out for him and his career back in 2002 or 2003 when he was just a well spoken guy from Illinois with good ideas. I didn't expect him to be our President this early however, but I am happy nevertheless, obviously.

However, I have to say, no matter who is the new President, my guy or someone I absolutely think is the devil such as the Commander In Thief the past 8 years, why do we spend so much money, time, and attention on the inauguration? Isn't our economy in the biggest crisis since the 1930's? I read somewhere but haven't been able to validate yet that today's festivities will cost tax payers over $150 million dollars. Also, how much trash will be created and therefore have to be cleaned up and removed because of this celebration? To start off on the right foot (or left since Obama is a Democrat), shouldn't he reduce the party to help the environment?

If it were me as the newly elected President, I would humbly thank everyone for their excitement and enthusiasm but decline all of this nonsense and put the $ that is going to be wasted back to the tax payers. I have to say, $150 million would really help my local town get out of its budget crunch. Heck, it would probably help the entire state of NJ.

Movie Reviews:
"Dont Mess With the Zohan": I have mixed feelings on Adam Sandler. So I went into this movie not knowing what I was going to get. I loved it. Pretty damn funny and I usually dont laugh. Sandler plays an Israeli/Jewish bad-ass, trained killing machine who happens to be good with the ladies who wants to escape the violence in Israel and hide in America to pursue his dream as a hair stylist. This movie had my wife cracking up (which is the best sound in the world) simply because there were so many hair cutting moments she could relate to. I could relate to it too since I too am a Jewish, bad-ass, trained killing machine who happens to be good with the ladies. Zohan (Sandler) winds up cutting hair in NYC working for a breath-taking, gorgeous Arab salon owner (she's really a Jewish Moroccan as I looked her up) and the movie goes on from there. My only complaint about the movie was the length. It was a good two hours and some of the over the top humor got old after a while even though most of it was darned funny. Worth the rental.

"Click": Yes, another Adam Sandler movie but it was just coincidence. The Wifey's brother dropped this movie off during the weekend. Just as I was happy with Sandler's "Zohan", this one was a complete 180 degree turn and the movie was not good. It had its funny moments and had nice eye candy throughout although nothing worth pausing the movie for. Sandler is given a secret universal remote control where he can control his life, pausing, fast-forwarding etc. Creative for the most part, but the concept and length got annoying after a while. Pass on this one unless you catch it free on tv and have nothing else to do.

I totally understand what you're saying, though money has been raised for years in preparation for this event by committees who are responsible for putting together such a hoop-la. On the other hand, look at all the jobs this hoop-la has created in needing those who need to clean up the trash, wait on the important people hand and foot, prepare and serve meals, and prepare various stages and such for the events. Maybe all of this isn't a complete waste.
